Fly With Ife

Playa del Carmen

After Cancún I went to Playa del Carmen. I loved this town so much. The main reason for me visiting Playa del Carmen was to checkout this restaurant called Alux.

This is the link to the airbnb I had a pleasure staying at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/46393785?source_impression_id=p3_1712115751_SKDSTEwzEE6RbOaB. I loved the location and the fact it came with parking (which depended on availability, but never had an issue with that).

Alux restaurant is an underground cave restaurant that have live bats flying around once it gets dark. They have different rooms for a more private dinning for an extra cost. There is also a cenote on the premises. Nothing to rave about but it is something different you don’t see everyday. I will have to warn you this place is on the expensive side, so please bring your coins if you want to dine here. Service was 10/10. Drinks were lovely. I do love the fact that everything they brought out was described to us before we ate. That’s a nice touch.

Next morning brunch was at Amate 38. Omg the food was amazing!!! I loved the atmosphere because it was surrounded by soooo many trees. It was right across the street from the airbnb.

The Portal Mayan statue celebrates the the end of the Mayan calendar of December 2012 and the beginning of a new era. The statue consist of a man and woman being pushed up by water and wind holding hands. This is a main attraction in Playa del Carmen. You can also get a boat from here and visit Cozumel.

Later on we visited cenote azul. The name speaks for itself: blue cenote. The water is so blue and beautiful. I can not swim (yes I know it’s important to learn how to swim. I will work on this), and did not get in the cenote even with a life vest on. My fiancé had a blast though in the water. It was a very low key spot. Not too many people there.

DINNER TIME. I love to eat lol. We went to Kanan. It’s located in Tulum. We couldn’t get reservations while our stay in Tulum so we drove a little over an hour just to enjoy a sunset dinner. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy too much of the sunset. We was late. Kanan is known for their treetop ambience/tables. If I have the pleasure of visiting again, I will book a table before sunset and watch the sunset as I’m eating, because after sunset there is no lighting but the little light on the table. That’s my only complaint.

Next stop is Tulum, BUT before we head over there, we stopped to get food at El pirata. Let me tell you something. This place cooked the BEST snapper I ever had in my life!!! The garlic sauce they poured on that snapper was to die for. They offer fresh fish daily, and the fish is weighed before consuming. I want to go back just for them to make me a snapper.
